Who can apply for PMP Certification?

To be qualified to take the PMI PMP Certification exam, the applicant must satisfy the following prerequisites.

In case of a 4 year degree, you must have:

        Project management experience

               3 years or 36 months

        Project management training/education

              35 hours of training or CAPM

​

In case of a high-school diploma, you must have:

         Project management experience

               5 years or 60 months

        Project management training/education

              35 hours of training or CAPM

35 hours of training or CAPM

The 35 hours of mandatory professional project management education can be achieved by the following ways:

  • Training with the PMI ATPs  and MiIT can help here.

  • A university or college program or course in project management 

​

In case of academic programs, only the hours spent on learning about project management are counted towards the qualifying 35 hours. The duration of the complete program is not counted unless the entire academic program is dedicated to project management.
